Sunset in the Mojave Desert

November 1st, 2011

Francesco Gallarotti

On our way out of the Mojave National Preserve we stumbled into a truly majestic sunset.

After having visited Kelso Train Depot, we took the road going north to Baker. It was already the end of the day but the sun was hiding behind some thick clouds coming from the ocean. All of a sudden, once the sun got almost as low as the horizon, it found its way through a break in the clouds and its rays, almost horizontal, grazed the desert and illuminated these big clouds on the eastern side of the road we were driving through. It was a majestic show and we stopped for a few minutes to enjoy this truly amazing light.
