Day 12: From Bryce to Page, AZ
Even though we left the hotel at Bryce not so early, we soon realized that we were going to arrive to Page, AZ very early and we really didn’t have any special plan there until the appointment on the day after at the Antelope Canyon for the photography tour. This is why, after a brief stop at the Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park in Utah, we decided to drive south to the Grand Canyon North Rim.
The visit at the Grand Canyon North Rim was just ok, nothing too amazing, mainly because the light pretty much sucked and also because we were coming from much more amazing sceneries. What was nothing short of breathtaking, though, was the drive back from there to Page, AZ through the Vermillion Cliffs.
As bad the light was on the Grand Canyon a couple of hours earlier, as gorgeous was the sunset over the Vermillion Cliffs. We literally stopped more than twenty times in a few miles to try to capture the most beautiful sunset we had ever seen before…
More amazing images will come in the days after the trip is over. For now just enjoy these teaser images that I randomly selected from a series that will probably be one of the best of the trip, in my opinion.
After all this, we ventured on a short hike to the Horse Shoe Bend, a famous bend of the Colorado River just a couple of miles south of Page. Sunset is not the best time to take pictures there, sunrise is much better. Also, the canyon is very deep and there is NO protection (no rails, no anything) and I am afraid of heights, so it was NOT easy to capture this image, but overall I am pretty happy with it (will do a better edit later on, probably).
